For those who have not yet realized: Roberto Unterladstaetter's work is political. In her Declaration of Political Art (2010) the Cuban artist Tania Bruguera wrote: “political art has doubts, not certainties; it has intentions, not programs; it shares with those who find it, it is not imposed on them; it is defined as it is done; it is an experience, not an image; it is something that enters the sphere of emotions and is more complex than a unit of thought. Political art is what is done when it is out of date and when it is uncomfortable, legally uncomfortable, civically uncomfortable, humanly uncomfortable. It affects us. Political art is uncomfortable knowledge ”.

Roberto's works work within that context. He is an artist who bothers and challenges, he does so by showing posters that tell us that 'we are nobody', that 'we are alone', that 'we cannot'. He does it when he posts posters that scream: 'we don't understand'. He does it when he shows us a naked Ekeko in these times of hard consumerism. Through these works, Roberto does not issue a specific criterion or even something close to an opinion, he limits himself to outlining a simple question: 'And you, what do you think?' And I do it with an advertising aesthetic because it seems to me that it is the most violent thing there is… Advertising, he explains.
